Artist Bio

I am an author, neurodivergency advocate and chromesthetic fractal artist who works with music to create fractal images that represent the texture, colour, and shape of “what music looks like”. Once the music portraits are finished, I often use similar song meanings and flavours to combine the portraits into thought collages of more recognizable subject matter.

My career has evolved intuitively, without formal training though the basis of my art is mathematics and having a bent towards physics has helped immensely.  This current technique grew from my roots in the visual arts that include oil and acrylic on canvas, pen and ink renderings, vinyl canvases and commissioned graphics for posters and CD covers.  I actively support several arts organizations through volunteer work and donations of art to fundraising initiatives, feel free to contact me about this if you have a project in need of a bit of help.

Chromesthesia is a form of synaesthesia, which is a brain configuration that includes conjoined senses. When I hear music, I see colour and see/feel shape, texture and very occasionally experience flavor/taste. When I realized well over a decade ago that most people did not experience things the same way, it occurred to me that showing people what music looks like is important both from a research point of view as well as from an aesthetic point of view. I started to use my fractals to try to more accurately represent what I heard/saw/felt.
